It all begins with an idea.

The idea of The Anchor was initially simply to provide educational support to the community. Realizing a need, we started to dig into providing hybrid/asynchronous educational services for families in the Tri Parish area. The Anchor has now transpired into much more.

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Daigle Talbot, and I am the owner of The Anchor Learning Center. I am an accountant by degree, but God had other plans for me, and I eventually received my middle school math certification and Master’s Degree in Educational Technology Leadership. I live in Napoleonville (near Lake Verret for all you locals) with my husband, Ben Talbot, and our two daughters, Adley and Molly.

Education has always been my passion. As a child, I watched my mom touch the lives of so many students in Assumption Parish through her love of education. I had a full-fledged classroom in my bedroom, complete with a whiteboard and desks. I tried my best to ignore the calling once I entered college, hence the accounting degree, but the Lord had firm plans all along. After the birth of my first child, I became certified to teach middle school math. The rest is history!

When people would ask me what grades and/or subjects I taught, most would wince once I mentioned middle school math. As for me, I LOVE the challenge. You see, I was that struggling math student. It didn’t “click” for me until high school, when I finally had an algebra teacher who took the time to learn ME. He formed relationships with his students that allowed him to meet them in the middle of the curriculum. His impact on me has molded me to the educator I am today, and relationships will ALWAYS be a top priority for me. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child find their confidence in the classroom. This feeling is what has kept me going, and what ultimately created the desire for more in my career.

As an alumnus of St. Philomena School and a native of Labadieville, my roots are deeply planted (or anchored, if you will) in this community. The opening of this learning center has been such a work of God, that it only felt appropriate to name the center with a meaning of faith.

The Anchor. The anchor symbolizes stability and support in both education and faith. Surrounding the anchor are three symbols: an arrow representing direction and progress, a lily symbolizing purity and growth, and a palm representing victory and achievement.

I look forward to meeting you all and sharing our stories of the paths that led us here. I believe there is a divine purpose in all of life’s experiences, and I am so honored to be a part of your family’s journey!
